USDA’s Weekly Crop Progress report says five percent of the U.S. corn crop is silking, one percentage point ahead of last year. The corn crop is rated 77 percent good to excellent, ahead of last year’s 67 percent complete. Most of the soybean crop is emerged, with 12 percent of the crop blooming, ahead of last year’s eight percent and the five-year average. Seventy-three percent of the soybean crop is rated good to excellent condition. Forty-one percent of the winter wheat crop is harvested, ahead of last year’s 39 percent complete. Thirty-four percent of the spring wheat crop is headed, slightly ahead of last year. Spring wheat conditions are rated 77 percent good to excellent. That’s ahead of last year’s 40 percent good to excellent.
