Weed control in the sugarbeet crop has been fairly successful even with slow planting. Extension Sugarbeet Agronomist Tom Peters says weed control success varies by location. “It’s patchy. It depends on where you live and other factors: stands at planting, rainfall to activate soil-applied herbicides. There are many things geography specific.” Kochia is one weed that continues to be an issue. “We don’t have a lot of good control options. We’ve also seen common ragweed.”
