North Dakota’s Agriculture Experiment Stations are asking for support in the next legislative session. Director Ken Grafton, wants funding for the agribiome initiative, precision agriculture updates and enhancing research capacity. Needs also include capital improvement priorities. North Dakota’s State Board of Agricultural Research and Education Chairman Keith Peltier says the work needs to happen before session. “Money is power. That’s ultimately who will make the decision on whether or not our stuff gets passed.” Extension Director Chris Boerboom explained there’s a need for $345,000 to expand Extension’s web presence and digital delivery. Extension also wants $870,000 for operating support for county and state programming.
