In the 2017 fiscal year, the average Conservation Reserve Program rental rate was up six percent from the prior year. A preliminary analysis for the current fiscal year increases annual rental rates by another four percent over 2017. Rental rates are generally highest in Illinois, Iowa, eastern Nebraska and southern Minnesota. In Minnesota, the highest rental rate is in Goodhue County at $250 per acre. St. Louis County has the lowest average at $13 per acre. For North Dakota, Richland County has the highest CRP rental rate averaging $128. McKenzie County is the low at $25 per acre. Moody County has South Dakota’s highest CRP rental rate at $231. Custer County is the lowest at $13.
