West of Britton, South Dakota, dry weather caused some uneven corn emergence for Kurt Zuhlke. “Corn has some of the worst stands we’ve seen in a quite a while here, but we’ve got places where the corn has five leaves out and stuff. Then, next to it, there could be a seed sitting in dry dirt there yet.” Zuhlke thinks the soybean stands are better. “But there are places where the beans are probably just kind of are sitting there in dry dirt and need the rain to get to the seed.”
