University of Minnesota Extension small grains specialist Jochum Wiersma has been fielding a few questions about newly emerged wheat turning yellow. “The really hot and windy weather over Memorial Day weekend cooked some of the emerging leaves on the soil surface. Some people may have mistaken that for maybe some nutrient deficiencies but it’s basically a little physiological mishap.” The crop will fully recover.
