Several Senators have introduced legislation addressing challenges for livestock haulers with Hours of Service and Electronic Logging Devices regulations. The Transporting Livestock Across America Safely Act would require 300-air miles per driver before the HOS and ELD requirements go into effect. It also would exempt loading and unloading times from the HOS calculation and allows haulers to rest at any point during a trip without counting against HOS time. The House announced similar legislation, which would completely exempt agricultural businesses from ELD regulations.
