U.S. Grains Council CEO Tom Sleight says the U.S. is taking a step in the right direction in the settling the dispute with China. Issues still need to be resolved, particularly the biotech approval processes with corn, Dried Distillers Grains and ethanol tariffs. “I had a really great discussion with one of the director generals of the National Energy Administration and we talked very directly and honestly about the fact that trade tensions are starting to improve. Our relations are improving and both myself and the Chinese counterpart, were very, very relieved about this.” If there is movement, Sleight anticipates sales of DDGS. “There’s a lot of interest in getting back to business as usual.”
