There was no shortage of farm bill drama on Capitol Hill. After more than 100 hearings and listening sessions across the country, the farm bill was defeated 213-to-198. The Freedom Caucus joined with Democrats to bring down the bill. Those conservative Republican members leveraged the farm bill vote to bring immigration reform to the House agenda. Immediately after the farm bill was rejected, House Speaker Paul Ryan made a motion to reconsider, which means the farm bill will come up for another vote. The timing of that vote is not yet known.
