Montana Wheat and Barley Communications Coordinator Steve Becker says the Montana winter wheat that did get seeded last fall looks very good. “They’re feeling pretty proud of themselves right now. Acres are down a little bit. We’ve been losing winter wheat acres for the last three to four years now.” Becker says spring wheat is picking up those acres. “We’re also going to see lots of forage barley in particular. Farmers are trying to replace the stocks which were lost in a really long winter.”
