The United States has gone to the World Trade Organization to challenge India’s price support system for wheat and rice. This is the first-ever notification to the WTO Committee on Agriculture involving another country’s trade practices. The U.S. says India’s price supports should be considered trade distorting domestic support. The Committee of Agriculture will meet next month and this filing is expected to get a lot of attention.
