The U.S. Department of Agriculture is issuing $34 million to agriculture producers affected by natural disasters in 2017. This includes farmers and ranchers who experienced drought-related losses. The funds are made available through USDA’s Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees and Farm-raised Fish Program. The program assists with losses that other disaster programs do not cover. As of Monday, the Farm Service Agency began payment of 2017 claims and will pay 2018 claims as they are filed.
