Brazil meat packer Marfrig Global Foods will purchase a stake of the U.S.-based National Beef Packing Company. The $969 million agreement will hand over 51 percent of the company to Marfrig and would create the world’s second-largest beef processor. National Beef exports to 40 countries and says its operations and management will remain unchanged in the agreement. The transaction will require regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2018.
