Record U.S. canola acreage is adding to optimism about the crop’s future in the Northern Plains. Pioneer Field Agronomist Larry Lunder says canola acreage continues to expand across the region. “There are more canola acres planted across the U.S. than ever this year, and that’s primarily going to be northern North Dakota, northwest Minnesota, and then an area in northeast Montana,” said Lunder. “We’ve had good success.” Lunder sees a bright future for canola with the company continuing to expand its pod shatter technology to new canola hybrids. “We’ve had some really good results with them.”
