Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman said USDA is taking the right approach to containing the New World Screwworm outbreak. During an exclusive interview with the Red River Farm Network, the Arkansas Republican said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has assured lawmakers the Department has the resources needed to respond. “I asked very pointedly what resources or authorities we could give them that they don’t have. She indicated, very truthfully, that as far as resources and things like that, they were in good shape. They understand the threat this is, they’re working hard to contain it, and I think they will contain it.” The Senate is also working on legislation to allow nationwide year-round E15 sales. Bozeman said Senate Majority Leader John Thune is heavily engaged in the effort. “This issue is right at the top of his list.”
