BASF and Nutrien have formed a strategic alliance to help farmers gain more value from their current sustainable farming practices. BASF Sustainability Market Development Manager Chad Asmus says this effort will help farmers take advantage of the 45Z Clean Fuel Production Credit. “There’s a reason that 45Z originated under Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, and it survived into OBBA (One Big Beautiful Act) because of its ability to help Rural America and the American farmer.’ With this collaboration, Nutrien agronomists will work directly with farmers while utilizing BASF digital tools, like xarvio® FIELD MANAGER and xarvio BIOENERGY. Nutrien Director of Sustainable Ag Programs, Dr. Sally Flis, says there is value to the farmer beyond the incentive payments. “One of the biggest things we’ve seen as we’ve worked in this space for six cropping seasons is that value from a payment alone varies widely and comes and goes very quickly,” said Flis. “So it’s how do we show and work with growers through our crop consultants on the ground to show them the value of having the data to make better decisions, to be more efficient every cropping season.” BASF’s Circalo Low Carbon Intensity Crops program simplifies recordkeeping and traceability requirements for low-carbon fuels.
