Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council CEO Tom Slunecka testified before the International Trade Commission, saying Japan’s technical trade rules are a non-tariff trade barrier. Japan buys soybeans based on crude protein measurements. Slunecka says essential amino acid measurements provide a more accurate view of product quality. Soybeans grown in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota typically have high levels of essential amino acids.
