Pro Farmer is forecasting a 16.2 billion bushel corn crop nationwide and a 4.2 billion bushel soybean crop. After its weeklong crop tour, Pro Farmer analysts project the average corn yield of 182.7 bushels per acre. That’s far below the 188.8 bushels per acre forecast by USDA last month. Pro Farmer’s soybean estimate is 53 bushels per acre nationwide, which is more in line with the record 53.6 bushels per acre forecast by USDA. Pro Farmer called Minnesota as the obvious bright spot with a record corn and soybean yield on the tour. In the ‘I’ states, disease pressure is having an impact.
