There was a heated exchange between Deputy Agriculture Secretary Vaden and Senate Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Amy Klobuchar during Wednesday’s hearing on USDA reorganization. In her opening comments, Klobuchar said this plan will result in worse service for farmers and rural communities. Klobuchar went on to say she did not support Vaden’s nomination, but believed he would do things to help Rural America. “I actually took you at your word when you had pledged to work with us on things that would help,” said Klobuchar. “That’s not what happened here when we had absolutely no notice of what you were going to do.”
