North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has requested a presidential major disaster declaration following the severe storms and tornadoes that struck the state June 20 and 21. The storm system caused an estimated $11.5 million in public damage, including widespread utility outages and infrastructure loss across 19 counties. A federal declaration would allow FEMA Public Assistance to help cover the costs of cleanup and repairs. Armstrong has also launched a $37 million Grain Storage and Facility Rebuilder Program to support producers who lost ag infrastructure in the storms.
