More than 2,000 cattle producers and industry professionals attended the 135th Annual Angus Convention in Columbus, Ohio. At convention, the American Angus Association’s strategic plan was outlined. The five areas of focus include the commercial sector, genetics, research, leadership and Certified Angus Beef. “With the recent launch of our commercial feeder calf program, the primary focus is on the commercial marketplace,” says Association CEO Allen Moczygemba. “Our focus is commercial cattle producer because that’s who our members sell their bulls to. The producers who’ve been investing in registered Angus genetics for years can now demonstrate the value and genetic potential of their calf crop.” In turn, Moczygemba goes on to say consumers get a better idea about the product they’re purchasing. “That’s where we see everything working together.”
