Devils Lake-based custom harvester Scott Brown is home waiting for the wheat to ripen. Dry weather hurt the area he cut in north Texas, Oklahoma and eastern Colorado. Brown says the combines are in South Dakota. “We got ahead of the harvest,” said Brown. “It was a fast summer, hot down south and we knew we’d catch it somewhere.” Brown expects his South Dakota run to begin this week.
