The farm bill was again on the agenda for the policy meetings at Commodity Classic. Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers President Kevin Leiser was part of the debate at the National Association of Wheat Growers Annual Meeting. “We have to look at the different options on how to do crop insurance,” said Leiser. “Some states want to keep ARC/PLC and that’s what they want to get rid of if we go to the 85 percent insurance level.” The timeline for the new farm bill remains a question mark. “If it doesn’t happen by June, we get into election season and it is a crazy time; it’d be pushed into next year and we’d just have an extension.”
