Warmer and drier weather is in the remaining October forecast for the Northern Plains. According to North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network Interim Director Daryl Ritchison, the region should shift away from the current wet weather pattern. “In turn, we will see more sunshine and warm up. The wetness will go away, which will be more noticeable than the warmer temperatures.” That’s good news for farmers, as improved conditions should help harvest activity get back into gear. Ritchison goes on to say that the second half of October, per average, will be far warmer than the first half. “I think we will see more days above average than below, but not enough to make up for the cold first half. I’ve been on the phone more times than I can count telling people to be patient. I know it’s frustrating, but conditions will improve.”
