Corn harvest is in full swing in the Onida, South Dakota area. Oahe Grain Corporation General Manager Tim Luken says corn has been coming in since the first part of September. Given the mix of weather throughout the growing season, yields are okay. “Yields have been 50-to-120 bushels per acre and moisture is right around 15 and 16 percent, but as low as 12 percent. Test weight is right around 54-to-57 pounds.” Luken adds some farmers are worried about green snap in the corn, “Usually we get one or two high wind events in the fall, but we haven’t had that yet.”
