A meeting will take place in Willmar this afternoon to evaluate the threat of highly pathogenic avian influenza and the implications for the new farm bill. The meeting will include Minnesota Senator Tina Smith, Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen, Farm Service Agency Director Whitney Place and officials from the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association. The farm bill discussion will be held at the Minnesota Poultry Testing Lab in Willmar.
