There are estimates North Dakota could see canola acres approach 2 million acres this year. Pioneer Field Agronomist Kristie Sundeen says that is a possibility, but the growth would have to come from the non-traditional canola areas. “In the traditional canola areas, guys are widening out the rotation,” Sundeen told RRFN. “Anything that was running in a tight rotation this last year didn’t do as well as they were expecting and had some lodging issues and standability issues. So soybeans are actually up in those geographies and canola’s down a little bit.” Pioneer was part of the KMOT Ag Expo trade show lineup.
