The sugarbeet crop at Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative is hanging in there after a very wet growing season. Vice President of Agriculture Todd Geselius says the agriculture staff is out collecting root samples. “Hopefully, if we can get some of these marginal fields come along a little bit better we’ll be ok.” Geselius says excess rain will have a big impact on the crop this year. “We’re going to be battling some root diseases this fall so that’s always a bit of a challenge.”
