President Biden used his emergency powers to prevent 115,000 rail workers from going on strike this week. The railroad companies and labor unions have 30 days to come to terms on a new contract. If either side rejects that proposal, another 30 day cooling off period is available. A work stoppage would shut down rail movement at a time when supply chain is already backed up.
