As of last Monday, North Dakota’s potential dicamba complaints are at 44. That’s an increase from the 40 formal complaints from last year. North Dakota State University and University of Minnesota’s Extension Weed Specialist Tom Peters says farmers aren’t out of the woods yet. “We did a lot of change from last year to this year. The industry spent a lot of time with training, the university contributed with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture to create special label requirements. The net of the training and the additional requirements has not eliminated our problem.” The ball is in the Environmental Protection Agency’s court now. “We’re going to have to decide if this technology is something we absolutely have to have. The other thing we’re going to try to do, especially at the state level, is to start to discuss what else can we do.”
