After a meeting with NATO leaders, President Joe Biden linked the Russian-Ukrainian war to a possible food security crisis. “Yes, we did talk about food shortages and it’s going be real. The price of these sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia, it’s imposed on an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country.” In a joint statement with the head of the European Union, Biden said direct food assistance will be provided as needed. Biden also said NATO leaders called for the elimination of trade restrictions on food.
