The president’s party almost always loses seats in the midterm elections, which could change the majority in the House in 2023. American Soybean Association Chairman Kevin Scott, who farms at Valley Springs, South Dakota, says that is slowing down the farm bill process. “They’re not really excited about getting the farm bill going yet since we don’t know who the chairs of the committees will be,” Scott told RRFN. “We as ASA have prepared for the farm bill, but it is hard when the representative you talk to about the farm bill is just not quite there yet.”
