Aimport Research Executive Vice President and CEO Mark Purdy, who is a former Army colonel, says the Russian invasion of Ukraine has major implications for agriculture. “If you take Russia, Ukraine and maybe throw in the ‘stans, there’s a third of the world wheat that’s coming out of that area.” Purdy was part of a National Corn Growers Association podcast and said corn is the other major commodity grown in the region. “Now, corn is not as big, but when you’re talking ten percent, 12 percent or 15 percent of anything global, that’s huge.”
