American Farm Bureau Federation Economist Shelby Myers says record farm income will sway the conversation about the upcoming farm bill. “Farm income is at $117 billion, the highest we’ve seen since 2013. We’ve had a lot of government support through the Market Facilitation Program and USDA’s pandemic assistance. These are things you could never planned for and much needed, but how does that shape the conversation for the next farm bill? Especially when we look at crop insurance and the Title 1 programs.” A concern for crop insurance agents at North Dakota State University’s Crop Insurance Conference was keeping crop insurance viable.
