Minnesota Farmers Union Government Relations Director Stu Lourey says hurdles remain going into the next legislative session in St. Paul. “We’ve got a Republican Senate, a Democratic House and a Democratic governor and we’re coming up on an election year. That will make it tough as folks will want to show what they’re doing for their base and that will make it harder to compromise.” On the positive side, Lourey said the public expects their lawmakers to legislate and there are needs that must be addressed politically.
