It’s time for North Dakota to recognize the value of animal agriculture. NDFB President Daryl Lies made that point during the organization’s annual meeting. “It’s time that we band together and do this because if we can gain another 20 or 30 cents a bushel the amount of dollars that leaves in our local communities to be spent by our farmers and ranchers is really tremendous.” Lies said the proposed natural gas pipeline will support growth of processing in North Dakota. “It may help facilitate growth of the livestock industry, too,” said Lies. “We’re going to have more natural gas available for a heating source for poultry and pig barns and processing facilities.” Lies, who farms at Douglas, was reelected to a two-year term as president. Hillsboro farmer Dana Kaldor of Hillsboro was reelected as vice president.
