The North Dakota Grain Growers Association is pleased the Surface Transportation Board rejected the Canadian National’s proposal to take over the Kansas City Southern. NDGGA Executive Director Dan Wogsland says CN doesn’t have any assets in North Dakota and the Canadian Pacific is a better choice. “This gives us an opportunity to have a better (transportation) avenue to the south and we think the more options we have, especially where North Dakota is located, is better.” Wogsland emphasized North Dakota depends on exports. New opportunities would include the possibility to sell barley to breweries now served by the Kansas City Southern.
