Cargill and HELM have launched a joint venture, Qore, to create a new environmentally friendly products from corn. The two companies will invest a combined $300 million to build the first commercial-scale renewable facility in the U.S. to produce bio-based BDO. Cargill’s plant in Eddyville, Iowa will be enhanced to turn sugars from corn into biodegradable plastics, polyurethane coatings and more. The project will be completed in 2024.
