The Potato Leadership, Education and Advancement Foundation reached a fundraising goal of $2 million in 2020. Using those funds, Potato LEAF will provide scholarships and create a new event to support Potato Industry Leadership Institute graduates. The new event is called the Institute Alumni Summit, focusing on team building, conflict management and leadership skills. “We’re refining some of the skills participants learned while being in the institute. Anyone that’s been a participant in the institute will be invited to be part of the summit,” said Michael Wenkel, chief operations officer, National Potato Council. “As we look at future plans for leadership development, we’ll move forward with this summit in mid-July and the next Potato Industry Leadership Institute is expected to happen in February 2022.” Registration for the summit opens in March.
