Sipcam Agro account manager Jeff Pewitt is seeing those differences within the same factory district. “You’ve got beets just coming out of the ground in the Moorhead district because it was planted into dry dirt. And right down the road where the guy got in a few days earlier and received moisture, they literally are going to close the rows this week.” Pewitt says the diverse stages of development can complicate things for the sugarbeet grower. “On the field that is way far along, he might have to do a fifth spray and on the one with the beets just coming up, depending on the weather, may need to only do three. Every field needs to be evaluated separately.”
