The Northern Plains is ending the year with very dry conditions. According to the final U.S. Drought Monitor of 2020, North Dakota has an increase in moderately dry conditions from the previous week. Extreme drought curls across a section stretching from Wells and Stutsman counties to Burleigh county. In South Dakota, the dry conditions are the same as the previous week, with abnormally dry and moderately dry conditions stretching across the northern part of the state. There are some areas of severe drought in the southern portion of South Dakota. Dry conditions in Minnesota are also in-line with the previous week, with much of the western part of the state in abnormally or moderately dry conditions.
