The proper adjuvant can determine the success or failure of the weed control strategy. “Conditioning water is really about making sure that the active ingredient such as dicamba or glyphosate remains in its active form,” said Jerry Ries, product research team member, West Central. “When we have hard water or cations, we lose activity because the cations like iron, manganese and hard water actually will bind to dicamba and glyphosate making them less active.” The new dicamba technology has changed the adjuvant game. “We can’t just think we can go out with the same adjuvant we’ve used in the past and expect it to work. It might work, but it will be likely it could be off label.”
