Significant white mold pressure is expected this year in soybeans and dry beans. BASF Technical Services Representative Ken Deibert says 2019 was an ‘epic’ year for white mold and that inoculum is evident again this season. Diebert recommends a spray nozzle that can produce a course size droplet “to penetrate through that canopy to protect those early flowers on the plant.” A different approach is needed for an open canopy. “It may be mid-to-late R1 and weather conditions are conducive for white mold infection, then we can use a flat fan nozzle that will produce a fine-to-medium droplet.”
