South Dakota Senator John Thune went to the floor Thursday to highlight the need for continued agricultural support. Thune has offered legislation to allow more farmers and ranchers to benefit from the Paycheck Protection Program. This program provides loans to small businesses to keep their employees on the payroll. “Right now, the program’s guidelines exclude farmers or ranchers without employees with a negative net income for last year.” Thune said he hopes to get his bill through Congress in “the near future.”
