The U.S. government has suspended visa processing in Mexico to combat the spread of coronavirus. American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall says this will restrict the number of immigrant workers being allowed into the country. Under the new restrictions, Duvall explains farmers will not have access to all of the skilled labor that is needed at a critical time in the planting season. This threatens the ability of America’s farmers and ranchers to produce food. AFBF is urging the government to find a safe and practical way to admit farm laborers.
