BASF has announced a new collaboration with AGCO in its Operation Weed Eradication initiative. BASF Vice President Scott Kay says this effort goes beyond controlling weeds to eliminating them. “I believe at harvest this past year, the last weed standing was the most genetically resistant weed in the field and the most problematic. The fact is waterhemp produces some 400,000 seeds and will remain in the the seedbed in that field for three-to-five years.” Kay wants to change the conversation about weeds and weed resistance. “Our mission is to have farmers engage their consultants, their retailers and themselves in the idea of truly trying to eradicate Palmer pigweed from our fields.
