National Corn Growers Association CEO Jon Doggett says a resolution is still needed for small refinery waivers. “This isn’t a transparent process. That’s why we’re in this situation. People want to know what’s going on with these exemptions. I think a little transparency would make things work better.” Doggett says members are submitting comments to the EPA on the recent biofuels rule. The industry is continuing to fight for ethanol. “This has been an ongoing fight since we produced the first gallon of ethanol in the 1970s. We’re trying to sell to an industry that doesn’t want to buy our product. We get that. The one set of people who have met the challenge and do what they needed to do were the farmers who produce the corn and the ethanol producers. We’ve done our part. It’s time for others to do theirs as well.”
