The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows an increase in drought across the northern part of North Dakota. Pierce and Benson counties are now in D2 or severe drought. Portions of Cavalier, Pembina, Towner and Walsh counties went from D0 or abnormally dry to D1, or moderately dry conditions from one week ago. Abnormally dry conditions remain for Dunn and Mercer counties and much of the northern tier counties in the state. In Minnesota, abnormally dry conditions remain for the western portions of Kittson and Marshall counties.
