The Kansas wheat harvest is wrapping up. As of Sunday, the USDA says the state’s wheat harvest is 96 percent complete. The Kansas Wheat Commission Director of Communications Marsha Boswell says the only places left to harvest are a few fields in northwest Kansas and muddy fields in the central part of the state. “We had a relatively late harvest, but it moved quickly.” Yields and quality varied by region of the state with yields in central Kansas about average. “As far as quality, test weights were above average, around 61 pounds. Protein levels were below average in most of the state.”
