If another round of trade aid is made available for U.S. farmers, corn growers want better than the one cent per bushel payments in the Market Facilitation Program. National Corn Growers Association CEO Jon Doggett says one penny per bushel is worthless to corn growers. “Many of the growers I’ve talked to since those payments have said it’s insulting,” he explains. “We’ve had a loss in price for many reasons. A lot of this is a loss of key markets in China for ethanol and Dried Distillers Grains, a big part of the corn industry.” The NCGA did not clarify how much growers would like to receive in this new round of aid.
